WHAT SHAPES THE FINISHED EFFECT
The Details Make the Difference.
Cut or built-up
Artwork and required depth guide the choice between cut material and a formed dimensional construction. Small strokes and fixing details need review at size.
Surface & environment
Compare sheen, brushing direction and colour with a finish reference. Identify outdoor, coastal or other exposure before choosing the actual metal and surface treatment.
Shadow & attachment
Unlit letters depend on daylight or site lighting. Review wall clearance, stud positions and attachment to the actual wall or cladding with your installer.

Questions Before You Start.
Are metal letters always illuminated?
No. This direction can use natural light and shadow. Any illumination is a separate construction choice to review.
Can you match a finish reference?
Send a finish or colour reference. Material, coating availability and sample requirements need confirmation.
How are the letters mounted?
The fixing method depends on the lettering, wall and installation arrangements. Supplied parts and local site work are agreed in the order scope.
Can I choose a thin cut letter or a deeper built-up letter?
Yes, these are different construction directions. Share the artwork, size and desired depth so we can review feasibility, edge detail and fixing.
Will the metal finish look exactly like a screen image?
Lighting, viewing angle and screen settings change perceived colour and sheen. Request a finish reference or approval option when matching the surface is important.
Can unlit metal lettering be used outside?
Identify the environment and fixing surface first. The actual metal, finish and attachment method must be selected for the agreed location and exposure.

Lettering with Depth and a Visible Finish
Metal and dimensional lettering can emphasise a logo through its outline, thickness, edge profile and surface finish. Start by comparing the appearance you want rather than assuming all metallic-looking signs use the same material or process.
The supplier photographs show formed letters and close surface details. Their colour on your screen does not establish a finish match, material grade or exterior durability.
Shape, Finish and Fixing Options to Review
- Logo outline, lettering style, size, depth and quantity.
- Flat-cut or built-up appearance, subject to design review.
- Brushed, polished, coated or other requested surface direction.
- Edge treatment, visible sides and any mounting stand-off.
- Mounting surface and whether the sign will be illuminated.
- Location, cleaning conditions and destination requirements.
Illuminated or Non-illuminated?
A metal face does not by itself describe the lighting arrangement. Tell us whether you want an unlit dimensional sign, a halo behind the letters or another effect. The construction and electrical scope need confirmation for the selected version.
Discuss the Surface Reference
Send a colour reference, material sample or clear photograph if the finish is important. Ask which sample or approval method is available before production. Do not rely on a screen image to confirm an exact metallic colour.
Questions Before You Start
Can you review my existing logo?
Yes. Include the artwork, intended size and a photo of the location. We will identify details that need clarification before quoting.
Which material should I choose outdoors?
The answer depends on the actual alloy or substrate, finish, environment and fixing arrangement. State the conditions and any required evidence at the enquiry stage; no universal outdoor specification is claimed here.
How do I prepare for installation?
Confirm the supplied fixing parts, layout information, mounting surface and local installer's responsibilities. Any drilling, access equipment or electrical work must be agreed separately.
